This is one of the most important questions we get asked, and the honest answer is: we strongly advise against it. Bali's roads are not what they appear on a map. The island is small in distance but large in travel time. The road between Ubud and Seminyak regularly takes 90 minutes to two hours in normal conditions, longer on a Saturday afternoon, longer still if there is a local ceremony procession, a market, or the everyday reality of Bali's scooter-and-truck traffic.
Uluwatu's cliff roads add another layer of complexity: narrow, winding and slow even without delays. We have seen couples want to plan a morning ceremony in Ubud and an evening reception in Uluwatu, believing the distance is manageable. It is not. Guests arrive late, stressed and the golden hour photographs that were the whole point of the clifftop reception have long passed by the time everyone is arriving.
