Destination Wedding in Bali from Singapore:
Your Complete Planning Guide
Asia · Destination Wedding Bali · Canggu, Uluwatu, Ubud, Nusa Dua · Premium Full Planning & Design Arrangement
Bali is, for many Singapore-based couples, the first place that comes to mind when they think destination wedding. And with good reason.
Just over two hours from Singapore by plane, Bali offers a combination that is almost impossible to find elsewhere: extraordinary natural beauty, a deeply spiritual atmosphere, world-class luxury accommodation, exceptional food and a local hospitality culture that treats every guest as genuinely welcome. For couples planning their wedding from Singapore, it is close enough to visit for planning trips, accessible for guests arriving from across Asia and Australia, and affordable enough to allow for a celebration that would cost three times as much in Europe.
At Create Your Story, we plan Bali weddings for Singapore-based couples with the same level of care and design intention we bring to every destination. Here is everything you need to know.
Why Bali is Singapore's Most-Loved Wedding Destination
The relationship between Singapore and Bali runs deep. Singaporeans have been travelling to Bali for decades: for holidays, for retreats, for family celebrations. It feels familiar and foreign at the same time, close enough to be accessible and different enough to feel like a true destination.
For guests, Bali is an easy yes. Direct flights from Singapore take under two and a half hours. The island has a well-developed luxury hospitality infrastructure: world-class private villas, five-star resorts, exceptional spas and restaurants. For guests arriving from Japan, Australia, India or Europe, Bali is well-connected and internationally recognised as one of the world’s great travel destinations.
And then there is the island itself. The rice terraces of Ubud. The clifftop temples of Uluwatu. The beach clubs of Seminyak and the lively restaurant scene of Canggu. The calm bay of Nusa Dua. Bali is not one place. It is a collection of entirely different worlds, each with its own character, its own light and its own kind of beauty.
Bali's Best Wedding Regions
Seminyak and Canggu: Stylish, Vibrant, Design-Forward
Seminyak and its neighbouring suburb Canggu are Bali’s most fashionable wedding destinations. Beach clubs with infinity pools overlooking the Indian Ocean, beautifully restored colonial villas, rooftop venues with sunset views: this is the Bali of curated aesthetics and contemporary luxury.
Seminyak suits couples who want a Bali wedding that feels cosmopolitan and design-led rather than traditionally tropical. The venue options range from intimate villa gardens to large beach club productions. The food and beverage scene here is outstanding, with some of Bali’s best restaurants and catering teams operating in this area.
Best for: Couples who want a stylish, social, contemporary Bali wedding. Strong for beach ceremony and sunset reception combinations. Suits 20 to 200 guests.
Ubud: Lush, Spiritual, Breathtakingly Beautiful
Ubud is the soul of Bali. Set in the island’s green interior, surrounded by rice terraces, rivers and ancient temples, it offers a completely different mood from the coastal areas: quieter, more contemplative, more deeply connected to the island’s spiritual identity.
Wedding ceremonies in Ubud often take place in jungle clearings, on terraces overlooking rice paddies, or within the grounds of retreat-style resorts where the boundary between inside and outside dissolves completely. The light here, filtered through jungle canopy and volcanic cloud, creates photographs that are simply unlike anything else in Bali. Ubud is also home to some of Bali’s finest boutique hotels and private villa estates, making it ideal for smaller, more intimate celebrations where the stay and the wedding are part of one immersive experience.
Best for: Couples drawn to nature, spirituality and lush tropical beauty. Ideal for intimate ceremonies of 10 to 80 guests. Strong for sunrise and daytime ceremonies when the light is most extraordinary.
Uluwatu: Clifftop Drama and Breathtaking Ocean Views
Uluwatu is Bali at its most dramatic. Perched on the southern tip of the island, the Bukit Peninsula rises in sheer limestone cliffs above the Indian Ocean. The views are staggering. The light at sunset is incomparable and the ceremonies held here, on clifftop terraces with the ocean stretching endlessly below, create moments that guests remember for the rest of their lives.
The venue landscape in Uluwatu has developed significantly in recent years. Luxury clifftop resorts and private event venues now offer world-class ceremony and reception facilities alongside those extraordinary views. Logistically, Uluwatu requires careful planning: the road access is winding and transport needs to be coordinated with precision.
Best for: Couples who want maximum visual drama, luxury hotels and the most memorable Bali sunset backdrop. Strong for ceremonies of 20 to 120 guests. Requires experienced logistical planning.
Nusa Dua and Jimbaran: Polished, Accessible, Family-Friendly
Nusa Dua is Bali’s most established luxury resort corridor: a gated enclave on the island’s southeastern coast where the major international hotel brands operate their finest Bali properties. It is calmer than Seminyak, more accessible than Uluwatu and offers the most complete hotel infrastructure on the island.
For couples with large international guest lists, particularly those including older family members or guests who prefer the reliability of an international hotel brand, Nusa Dua provides the most comfortable and logistically smooth base. Jimbaran Bay, just north of Nusa Dua, is famous for its calm waters, beachfront seafood restaurants and one of Bali’s most beautiful sunset vistas.
Best for: Larger celebrations with international guest lists, families with older guests, or couples who want five-star hotel infrastructure alongside a Bali wedding. Suits 50 to 300 guests.
What Makes a Bali Wedding Different
Several things are unique to Bali that every couple should understand before they begin planning.
- The spiritual dimension: Bali is a deeply Hindu island and ceremony is woven into every aspect of daily life. Working with a planner who respects and understands this culture is essential. We collaborate with local Balinese vendors who carry this knowledge with genuine authenticity.
- The villa option: Unlike most wedding destinations, Bali offers an extraordinary range of private villa estates that can be hired exclusively for your celebration. A villa wedding in Bali creates an intimacy and a sense of ownership over the day that hotel venues rarely match.
- The weather: Bali has a wet season from roughly October through March and a dry season from April through September. The dry season is the premium wedding season. We plan accordingly and always have contingency protocols in place.
- The flower culture: Bali has one of the world’s richest traditions of floral offering and decoration. Working with local rental companies and our own team of florists who understand both Western luxury floral aesthetics and the island’s own visual language creates something deeply beautiful and completely authentic to the place.
- The traffic reality: this one surprises almost every couple. Bali’s roads are narrow, busy and shared with scooters, ceremony processions, trucks and the unexpected. What looks like a short distance on a map can take 90 minutes or up to hours in real conditions. A ceremony in Ubud and a reception in Seminyak on the same day is not a manageable plan. We always design celebrations within one region, or build serious travel buffers into multi-location days. This is not a limitation. It is how you protect the day from becoming a logistics disaster.
Why a Singapore-Based Planner Is the Right Choice for Your Bali Wedding
There are many Bali-based wedding planners. There are also Singapore-based planners who offer Bali as a destination. The difference matters more than it might seem. A Singapore-based planner understands you: your expectations, your guest profile, the way Singapore couples and their families think about a celebration. They can meet you in person, visit venues with you on a planning trip and coordinate with your guests from the same time zone.
At Create Your Story, we combine this understanding of our Singapore-based clients with a trusted network of Bali vendors built over years of working on the island. We know the venues from the inside. We know which florists deliver in the Balinese heat. We know how to coordinate transfers for a guest list arriving from Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and London on the same day.
We plan your Bali wedding as if it were our own.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wedding Planning & Design
For peak season dates between May and September, we recommend 12 to 18 months to book the venue. Villa estates and the most sought-after venues book up well in advance. If your timeline is shorter, contact us first. We have secured extraordinary Bali venues on tight timelines when the date allows.
A planning trip is strongly recommended and we can accompany you. Bali is so close from Singapore that a long weekend scouting trip is easy to arrange. We will make every hour count.
Yes. Bali is one of the world's most-visited destinations and European guests often jump at the chance to combine a wedding with a Bali trip. Flights from Europe connect via Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong. Many guests extend the trip into a holiday. We factor all of this into the guest logistics plan.
Yes, most destination weddings in Bali or anywhere in the world are symbolic ceremonies, meaning they are not legally registered in Indonesia. Couples typically register their legal marriage in their home or residence country before the Bali celebration. We advise on this process and work with either an experienced officiant or your friend to create deeply meaningful and personal ceremonies.
This is one of the most important questions we get asked, and the honest answer is: we strongly advise against it. Bali's roads are not what they appear on a map. The island is small in distance but large in travel time. The road between Ubud and Seminyak regularly takes 90 minutes to two hours in normal conditions, longer on a Saturday afternoon, longer still if there is a local ceremony procession, a market, or the everyday reality of Bali's scooter-and-truck traffic.
Uluwatu's cliff roads add another layer of complexity: narrow, winding and slow even without delays. We have seen couples want to plan a morning ceremony in Ubud and an evening reception in Uluwatu, believing the distance is manageable. It is not. Guests arrive late, stressed and the golden hour photographs that were the whole point of the clifftop reception have long passed by the time everyone is arriving.
Our approach is simple: we design each celebration within one region, or we build genuine travel time into the day and adjust the programme accordingly. Sometimes the most beautiful solution is a single venue that holds both ceremony and reception. Sometimes it is two locations within the same area, thirty minutes apart. We know the island well enough to plan this with precision and without surprises. This is exactly the kind of knowledge that makes the difference between a beautiful day and a stressful one.
